Symbol mapping tells DaneTrades which receiver instrument corresponds to a source symbol.
Why mapping is needed
Brokers often name the same market differently. Examples include:
GOLDandXAUUSD;NAS100andUSTEC;US30andDJ30;- a normal forex symbol and a suffixed version such as
EURUSDm.
These examples are not universal. The receiver broker's current symbol list is the source of truth.
Create or correct a map
- Open Copiers.
- Select the affected copier.
- Open Symbol Mapping.
- Find the source symbol.
- Select the exact receiver symbol.
- Save the mapping.
- Retest only that symbol with a tiny trade.
Account readiness
The receiver account must finish loading its symbol catalogue before a complete map can be created.
If the account still shows Connecting, wait for it to become ready. If symbol loading fails, resolve the account connection first.
Confirm the instrument details
Before saving a map, compare:
- instrument type;
- contract size;
- quote currency;
- price precision;
- trading hours;
- minimum volume;
- expiry or contract month where relevant.
A similar name does not guarantee an equivalent instrument.
Missing map outcome
When no committed mapping is available, Trade activity should show Not copied: missing symbol map rather than guessing a receiver instrument.
That fail-closed behaviour protects against trading the wrong symbol.
Telegram aliases versus symbol mapping
For Telegram sources:
- provider text may first be normalised using aliases;
- the resulting source symbol then uses the normal copier symbol map.
Use aliases only when provider wording needs normalisation. Use the copier map for the actual source-to-receiver relationship.
If the wrong symbol traded
Pause new opens on the affected copier if necessary, confirm the exact map and manage any live broker position directly. Deleting or changing a map does not automatically close an existing receiver position.
When to continue to support
Provide the Trade activity reference ID, source symbol, selected receiver symbol and receiver platform when a saved map still produces an unexplained result.
