Tradovate futures symbol mapping

Tradovate is the futures outlier in a mostly CFD and web-platform world. That means symbol mapping and sizing need extra attention, especially when you are copying between futures contracts and CFD-style receiver symbols.

Why Tradovate behaves differently

  • Tradovate uses futures contracts such as ES, NQ, CL, and GC.
  • Many other connected platforms use CFD-style symbols such as US500, USTEC, USOIL, or XAUUSD.
  • Tradovate positions use whole contracts, not fractional lot sizes.

Typical mapping examples

  • NQ often maps toward USTEC or NAS100.
  • ES often maps toward US500 or SPX500.
  • CL often maps toward USOIL or WTI.
  • GC often maps toward XAUUSD or GOLD.

Micro contracts and sizing

Smaller Tradovate sizing may rely on micro contracts where available. Even then, the futures side still resolves to whole contracts, so copying between Tradovate and non-futures platforms should be validated carefully before live scaling.
