How to connect Tradovate API

Tradovate is the main futures-specific connection path in the current app. It requires more preparation than the retail web platforms because API access, credentials, and account eligibility all matter before the connection can succeed.

What you need first

  • A Tradovate account that meets the API access requirements for your intended use.
  • Active API access or subscription where required by Tradovate.
  • The correct username, password, client ID, and client secret for the environment you are using.
  • The correct environment selection such as Demo or Live.

Basic steps

  1. Open Trading Accounts and click Add Account.
  2. Select Tradovate.
  3. Enter the required credentials, including username, password, app ID, app version, CID, SEC, and the right environment.
  4. Connect and verify the account appears correctly in the app.

Most common blockers

  • Missing or inactive API subscription.
  • Credentials copied incorrectly.
  • Rate limiting after too many retries.
  • Device approval or extra security checks not completed yet.

Futures-specific note

Tradovate symbols and sizing behave differently from CFD platforms. Once the account is connected, symbol mapping and copier sizing should be reviewed carefully before live use.
