Accounts & Connections

Tradovate API access requirements

Tradovate has more setup requirements than the typical retail platform connection. API access depends on account eligibility, the right subscription, and developer credentials that match the environment you want to use.

Tradovate API FAQ

These are the requirements and access questions that usually come up before a Tradovate connection works cleanly.

Do I need a Tradovate API subscription to connect the account?

Yes. Tradovate API access usually depends on an active API subscription. Without it, the connection can fail even when the login details look correct.

What Tradovate credentials does DaneTrades typically need?

The current Tradovate flow uses username, password, app ID, app version, CID, SEC, and the correct environment. Those all need to line up for the connection to succeed.

Can I rely on Tradovate demo for the same behavior as live?

Demo can still be useful for testing, but live API access is usually where the full eligibility and subscription rules matter most. It is important to check the live-versus-demo expectations before assuming both behave the same way.

What Tradovate typically requires

  • A funded live account if you want full production API access.
  • An active Tradovate API subscription.
  • Developer application credentials, usually a client ID and secret.
  • The correct live or demo environment selection.

Why this matters

Tradovate is a futures platform with tighter operational rules than many CFD or web platform connections. If the account does not meet Tradovate's API requirements, the connection can fail even when the username and password look correct.

What to check before connecting

  1. Check the funded-account and API-access status inside Tradovate.
  2. Confirm the API subscription is active.
  3. Create or review the developer application credentials.
  4. Match the credentials and environment to the app form before trying to connect.
